A Public Service Announcement

Well, I have been on a rather long hiatus from my blog. Now, I logged in to an e-mail account -- that I listed in Settings so the nice people at Blogger could send me stuff -- and what do my eyes behold in the Inbox but a couple of comments from my blog! Wow! I opened them hastily because I feared they would disappear.

The explosion of a burst bubble must have been heard 'round the world.

Spam. I hate spam. (Not the meat, of course - that stuff I only loathe.)

But I log in to Blogger and voila! the wonderful team now has a feature specifically designed to stymie spamming programs by "pwning tehr b0x0rs"*. Actually, it accomplishes this feat by forcing anyone who wants to leave a comment to input the code word which appears.

I have NOT limited who can post a comment, I just made it harder for spam comments to be left.

* A phrase using the hardcore gamer's version of English called 'l33t-sp34k'. It would take an entire post to explain the concept of l33t-sp34k, so I only say 'pwning tehr b0x0rs' is similar to saying 'giving them the mother of the mother of all underwear wedgies'.
